What's new

What's new in Pyxen

Each release of Pyxen, newest first, in a few lines. Each one comes to pyxen.com first, and to the App Store once Apple has reviewed it.

  1. Pyxen26.8

    iPadMacWindowsWeb

    #26.8

Start from a game, and make it yours

    • Start from a game: Platformer, Rhythm, Match-3, Tower Defense, Mini Golf, Farming and more, each playable from the first Run, in the art style you pick, with a Guide that walks you through changing it.
    • Mechanics: add movement, health, pickups, a score, a camera and more to your game in one step, tune them with sliders while it runs, and read every line.
    • Pyxen for Windows: the same app, with Windows' keys and menus, from pyxen.com/download.
    • Pyxen in your browser at pyxen.com/app, with nothing to install: a free trial on a computer, your projects kept in that browser.
    • Folder projects: a project can also be a folder of plain files, so a text editor or git can work on them directly. · Mac and Windows only
    • Connect an AI App: Claude Code, Claude Desktop or another AI app can read, check, run and change the projects you have open, every change shown as it happens and undoable. It is off until you turn it on. · Mac and Windows only

  2. Pyxen26.7

    iPadMac

    #26.7

A new Pyxen, rebuilt from the ground up

    • Your first game opens ready to play: a hero to walk around and a coin to catch, with a Guide that walks you through changing it.
    • Asset packs of pixel art, sounds, music and fonts, with their credits written into your game when you export it.
    • Pyxen Script, a Python dialect made for games, with errors that point to the exact line.
    • Instant Share, as before: choose Share and get a link anyone can play in a browser.
    • One purchase unlocks Pyxen on your Mac and your iPad. If you bought Pyxen before 26.7, your purchase still unlocks Pyxen here.
    • Your projects stay exactly where they are, and open in 26.7. A project saved by 26.7 may need 26.7 to open.

  3. Pyxen26.6.1

    iPadMac

    #26.6.1

    A fix for snippets

    • Five snippets, among them the first one on the home screen, “start() / update()”, wouldn't open: Pyxen said a folder didn't exist. · iPad only
    • Five snippets, among them the first one in the Home window, “start() / update()”, opened as an untitled document instead of a project in your Pyxen folder. · Mac only
    • They open as projects now, named after the snippet.
    • Your existing projects are unchanged.
  4. Pyxen26.6

    iPadMac

    #26.6

A home screen, and a clearer evaluation

    • Pyxen opens to its own home screen, not a file browser: pick up where you left off under Continue, or start from Examples and Snippets, each with a cover taken from the game itself. · iPad only
    • Pyxen opens to a Home window: pick up where you left off under Continue, or start from Examples and Snippets, each with a cover taken from the game itself. Window ▸ Pyxen Home (⇧⌘0) brings it back. · Mac only
    • Snippets are grouped by what they do, so the one you need is where you'd look for it.
    • The first launch opens a game that already runs: press Run, change the code, run it again. · iPad only
    • Free for three projects, as big as you like; projects you already have open and stay editable; one purchase lifts every limit.
    • Option+Delete deletes the previous word in the code editor, and the right panel's divider resizes it.
